Celebrating the gift-giving season – together!

We hope that your will join us at our LIVE EVENT designed to raise funds for equipment needed for the Royal Columbian Hospital.  If you can’t join us, we are gratefully accepting donations (cash, cheque, etransfer or credit card) to help achieve our goals.  Simply call or email us ( see poster fore details) to arrange for pick up or transfer details.  After another successful event in 2022 -, we are excited to once again be doing this important fund-raising cause…after all, everyone will likely have a need to the services of this great hospital  that is located in our beautiful Royal City.

See you there !

GROUP of FIVE Benevolent Society President Rick Carswell wishes you a warm welcome.

I wish to welcome you all to this important – and fun – annual fund-raiser for equipment at Royal Columbian Hospital.  This year we are addressing patient mobility with the purchase of 3 wheelchairs.  I hope that you will join us to start the season of gift-giving off right!  If you have any questions, want to purchase a ticket or two or want to donate to this important cause – feel free to call me on the number listed on the invite and ticket!

G5 Founding Member Gerda Suess
Celebrates her 90th year
with a bagpiper, car drive-by, dignitaries & friends

MP for New Westminster/Burnaby Peter Julian led the socially distant crowd in a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday

On September 4th, 2020 G5 founder Gerda Suess celebrated her 90th birthday in the city of New Westminster. Helping her to celebrate the day, 50 cars participated in a drive-by and over 75 people who worn masks, staggered their arrivals and social distanced gathered to wish her warm wishes when she appeared on her balcony. The celebrations started off with a bagpiper leading a parade of dignitaries. In addition to Mr. Mom World Catering supplying her and her guests a bountiful box lunch, the event was highlighted by the accolades of MLA Judy Darcy and Rick Carswell who on behalf of the Mayor of New Westminster Jonathon Coté, presented Gerda with recognition of her 90 years. Further, the MP for New Westminster/Burnaby Peter Julian led the socially distant crowd in a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday. The drive-by not only included close friends of the birthday girl, but also members of the Rotary New West, Hyack Festival Association, Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation and members of our Emergency services. In lieu of cards and flowers, donations were gratefully accepted on behalf of the Group of Five, whom Gerda is a founding member. [A special shout-out to The New West Record paper and writer Theresa McManus for putting this event in the paper and to New West for keeping it a secret from her for over a week. Also, a shout-out for James Crosty, President of The G5 for MC’ing this great event.]
